Elegy for Broken Wings

I could have been anyone

But I chose to be Icarus,

Falling from such great height,

And you, Daedalus,

Trying to catch me as I fell,

But your arms were made of myths,

Your wings the stuff of legend,

And besides,

Nothing could cushion the impact

Of my martyrdom,

At least not in the face

Of you being gone.
